Curation Tools Reflection

   After reading step 6 of my PLN about Using Curation tools, I found that I really liked how they organized the piece around the center of curation tools are used to narrow your topic and put everything together on one subject. They are a tool for you to use when you want to learn about a specific thing through many different sources. They allow for you to bring all those ideas together as a easy way to organize them.
   I also found it kind of funny how I have always used these, but never really thought about them actually having a name or category beyond the app.  I often use Pinterest and have whole boards full of pins dedicated to one topic such as "hair ideas". It definitely allows for me to put a bunch of different ideas together so I can pick and choose pieces I like and want to use.
   I enjoyed the fact that they referred it back to how teachers can use it as a way to keep fresh information going within the classroom, as I think it is extremely important for a teacher to always being updating their content or introducing new ideas and activities within their classroom. In this way, these tools become an extremely important part of ones PLN as it can connect people and share ideas on certain topics between them.  This will benefit not only the teacher, but also the student.
   Ultimately, with our world becoming more and more technology based, I believe it is good that new technologies are being created to replace handwritten lists or time consuming research for those whose lives center around technology.

So I chose to explore "Work Hard, Play Harder, and Be Gentle with Yourself: Advice for the Beginning of Grad School and Beyond" by Claire Kamp Dush https://u.osu.edu/adventuresinhdfs/2016/12/07/advicefornewgradstudents/     I chose this because she talks a lot about what it takes to be successful in grad school (which is something I am considering pursuing ), but also how you have to know how to balance everything so you can get the most out of the experience and be successful in your future career. After reading this,  some of the key points I got out of it were to put yourself and your happiness first, figure out what is important to you as an outcome and work for it, know it is okay to get behind, but don't give up, and grad school performance isn't everything. Maker experience reflection on possible ideas

     I am extremely excited about the ideas my group has going! Since we have to do 2-3 projects we decided on health class as our field and we plan to focus on my plate/nutrients/vitamins, proper eating/disorders, and mental health.      If everything goes as planned for the myplate/vitamins and nutrients we plan to set up a layout of an app in which students would be presented with an empty lunch box and be able to build their own lunched based off of food choices given to them. They would attempt to use thier knowledge on proper nutrition and include all areas of healthy eating. They would drag their choices over on top of the lunch box and when they decide it was complete, they would click a 'done' button and they would either be greeted with a "Not quite! You are missing a ______ which is important because it has _______ which is needed" or "good job!" ran out of time to share the rest!
